During the Tang Dynasty, as war threatened the borders, Li Haobai, a young man from Shu, set out with his friend Hu Jian to join the army at Hangu Pass, driven by a strong sense of duty. But these troubled times were plagued not just by conflict but by dark forces as well.
In Chengdu, the wise Taoist Xiaoyaozi traveled to exorcise malevolent spirits, while in Chang’an, the cunning Xun Guoshi deceived the emperor with promises of immortality. He used his followers to capture “dragon beasts,” seeking their essence to create forbidden elixirs.
By chance, Li Haobai merged with the mystical “Lizhu” of a dragon beast, gaining extraordinary powers but becoming a target. Now pursued by Xun Guoshi’s minions and those who covet the Lizhu, he must navigate treacherous waters, facing both enemies and his own inner struggles to become the hero his land needs.
